Finger Painting has changed a great deal since kindergarten. It is now not only a great relaxing hobby but a therapeutic way to relieve stress and bring out the inner child in you.

Studies conducted at the National Institute on the Aging, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and other prestigious agencies throughout the country show that mentally stimulating activities such as creating art can strengthen brain cells and the connections between them. Researchers say the newly created brain cells are in response to this type of robust mental activity.

For those over 45 years of age it is especially important to engage in this type of activity to boost mental health and reduce the risks associated with dementia such as Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers are learning more everyday about the importance of exercising the mind. It is very important that we all think outside the box when it comes to preserving our mental health. We really need to think about the quote Allen always says to all his students “Every day of your life is a blank canvas, paint it well!”
